Manipur is a valley state bordering Myanmar, with Imphal at its centre and forested hills all around. It is known for Manipuri classical dance, the martial art of thang-ta, and as a birthplace of modern polo.
Ethnic conflict that began in May 2023 has sharply reduced tourism, and conditions differ between areas. Check current advisories and local guidance before planning, and travel with trusted local contacts.
