Mizoram lies in the far south of the Northeast, between Myanmar and Bangladesh. Its steep ridges run north to south, and Aizawl, the capital, is built along them, with houses stacked down the slopes.

It is one of the quietest and most orderly states to travel in, known for its community spirit. Indian citizens from outside the state need an Inner Line Permit.
