THE NOTEBOOK ✳
I Was So Busy Making a Living, I Almost Forgot to Live
On escaping the 9-to-5 routine, romanticising ordinary days and finding a little more life in the life we’re already living.

There was a time when most of my life could be summed up in five words: wake up, work, come home.
Monday looked like Tuesday. Tuesday looked like Wednesday. I had a job, a routine, responsibilities and all the things that come with being an adult. Nothing was particularly wrong. I was doing what I was supposed to be doing.
But somewhere along the way, something started feeling missing.
I would wake up, get ready, go to work, come back home and do it all over again. Days turned into weeks, and weeks into months. Life was moving, but sometimes it felt like I was just watching it pass by.
I wanted a life outside the office, too.

A life beyond the 9-to-5
I’ve always been someone who loves exploring. New places, beautiful cafés, clothes, photography, interiors, little details that most people might walk past without noticing.
I wanted to travel more, try new things, dress up just because I felt like it, spend an afternoon in a pretty café, take photographs and make things.
But with a full-time job, there was only so much time. Most days were already planned around work, and the things I loved often had to wait for a weekend, a holiday or that one opportunity when everything somehow fell into place.
So whenever I got the chance, I tried to get away.
Sometimes it was a trip. Sometimes it was just stepping out, finding somewhere new or doing something different from my usual routine.
I think those little escapes reminded me that there was so much more to life than the things I did every day.
And slowly, I started finding ways to bring a little more of that feeling into ordinary days, too.

Somewhere along the way, I fell in love with creating
It started with wanting to capture things.
A beautiful view during a trip. A little corner of a café. An outfit I really liked. The sunlight falling through a window. A random afternoon that felt too good to forget.
I began taking more pictures, recording little videos and documenting moments without necessarily having a plan for what I would do with them.

And then I realised how much I loved it.
I loved putting together a video, choosing the right music, finding the right frame, noticing the smallest details and turning an ordinary moment into something I could revisit.
There’s something special about looking at a photograph or video a year later. Suddenly, you’re not just looking at a place. You’re remembering how it felt to be there.
You remember what you were wearing, who was with you, what the weather was like, the conversations, the little things you probably didn’t think were important at the time.
You get to meet an older version of yourself again.
And I think that’s one of the reasons I love documenting life so much. It gives ordinary moments somewhere to live, long after they’ve passed.
More than one passion, more than one version of me
For the longest time, I thought I needed to figure out exactly what I wanted to do.
Pick one thing. Find one direction. Choose one niche and stay in it.
But the truth is, I’ve never been very good at picking just one thing.
I love travelling, but I can’t be travelling every day. I love fashion and putting outfits together. I love discovering cafés, trying new food, exploring beautiful spaces, listening to people’s stories, creating videos and coming up with random ideas.
Some days I want to talk about a place I’ve visited. Other days I want to share something I’ve been thinking about, an outfit I love or a little discovery from an ordinary afternoon.
Why should all of that have to fit into one category?
Maybe we put too much pressure on ourselves to become one clearly defined version of who we are.
People are allowed to have different interests. We’re allowed to change our minds, try new things, get curious and fall in love with something completely unexpected.
I don’t want to create a life, or a space, where I have to keep choosing between the things I enjoy.
I want room for all of it.
So, why LIFELATELY?
That’s really where LIFELATELY began.
Not with a perfectly planned business strategy or a clear idea of what it would become. It started with a feeling.
I wanted a little space of my own. Somewhere I could bring together the things I love, tell stories, share discoveries, document experiences and create without constantly worrying about whether everything belonged to one niche.
A place for travel, style, food, people, ideas and everything in between.
I want to see it grow. I want to build a community around it, create meaningful content, collaborate with brands, travel, work on exciting creative projects and hopefully turn it into something much bigger one day.
I have plenty of dreams for this little corner of the internet.
But there’s something else I want to hold on to while building it.
I don’t want to become so busy building a life that I forget to actually live it.
Making room for both
I still believe in working hard. I believe in having ambitions, earning money, building a career and creating something meaningful.
But I also believe that all of it should lead somewhere beyond the work itself.
What’s the point of working towards a beautiful life if we’re always too busy to enjoy it?
I don’t want to keep postponing happiness until the next holiday, the next promotion, the next milestone or the next big thing.
I want to enjoy the small things along the way. Take the long route sometimes. Save photographs. Try that café. Wear the outfit. Take the trip when I can. Make something just because it makes me happy.
And perhaps most importantly, I want to remember it all.
I don’t have everything figured out. I’m still learning, exploring, changing directions and figuring out what I want this life to look like.
Maybe that’s the point.
Life doesn’t have to be one big, perfectly planned journey. Sometimes it’s a collection of little moments, new experiences, unexpected turns and things we discover about ourselves along the way.
And I’d like to make room for more of those.
Because we’re not just here to make a living. We’re here to have a life worth remembering.
Welcome to Life, lately.
If this story made you think of a moment, a place or a version of yourself you’d like to remember, I’d love to hear about it. Share your story with LIFELATELY.
